Customer care is one of the award categories in Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust’s Striving for Excellence Awards, which this year is sponsored by the Salisbury Hospital League of Friends. Local people and patients have the opportunity to nominate an individual member of staff or team for a Salisbury District Hospital Customer Care Award.
Customer Care Awards focus on the way in which staff have dealt with other people, in particular whether they have delivered their care in a friendly and welcoming way or have gone that extra mile to help. Cara Charles-Barks, Chief Executive said, "Each week I see amazing things that our staff do for our patients and they continue to provide the inspiration and drive that makes the health service what it is today. The way our staff treat people plays a crucial role in the overall care we provide and can have a significant impact on our patient’s experience. I’m sure that many of our patients, relatives and carers will have their own personal experiences of where our staff have gone that extra mile to help. Our customer care awards give them an ideal opportunity to nominate an individual or team and recognise the enormous contribution they make to our hospital and the local community."
David Stratton, Chairman of Salisbury Hospital League of Friends said, "We have given additional support to local health services for over 60 years and we’re proud of our association with Salisbury District Hospital, its services and the staff that make the hospital what it is today. There is a link between the professionalism and commitment of NHS staff and the quality of care they give to patients and we are delighted to be able to support these awards and acknowledge all that they do for our local health service."
The Striving for Excellence awards ceremony will be held on 2nd February 2018, where winners of the public-voted Customer Care Awards will be announced.
