We are delighted that Braemar Lodge Care Home has selected the League of Friends as its charity for 2018.
“Involvement in the local community is very important to Braemar Lodge, so every year the residents of the home vote to select a charity to support. This year we are pleased to announce that we have selected the League of Friends to support,” said Alison Bremner, the home manager. “Most of our residents have had occasion to visit the hospital and this is a way for them to show their appreciation for the work of the League.”
One of the residents, Helen, said “I was waiting in the endoscopy department feeling a little nervous because appointments were running late. I noticed a small plaque that stated the waiting room was refurbished by the donations from the League of Friends. The chairs were very comfortable and the waiting area well decorated and I thought to myself: it really is the little things that make the difference.”
Braemar Lodge will be running a series of events over the year to collect funds that it will donate to the League. The first will be a garden party on the 16th June followed by a BBQ in August and a Christmas market in November. The League, well known for its sweet shop in the foyer of the hospital, will be bringing a mobile sweet trolley to each of these events. David Stratton, Chairman of the League, said “It's so encouraging to be supported by companies like Colten Care who do such a marvellous job in running Braemar Lodge. I was really pleased to be invited to Braemar Lodge to talk with staff and residents about the work we do in the League of Friends and thrilled that they agreed to help us over this year.”
